Just a very brief post pointing out what I think is the funniest part of the Society of Homeopaths’ press statement / response to Polly Toynbee’s rather wonderful CiF piece. Unfortunately, the comments thread following Polly’s excellent article deteriorates into trollery and bunfighting. Due, it appears, to one rather tenacious self-appointed expert and conspiracy theorist whose particular hobbyhorses seem to include vaccination and ‘allopathy’.
I was alerted to a ‘press statement’ on the SoH website today, http://www.homeopathy-soh.org/whats-new/press-releases.aspx. I was amused to note that Paula Ross of the SoH thinks that they have “a strict Code of Ethics & Practice”. This has been shown to be patently untrue as can be seen at the following sites (among others) –
Quackometer on Homeopathic Regulation: Curing Homeopathy
Gimpy’s ‘SoH break their own code of ethics’ post is a must-read and he has also posted Society of Homeopaths break own Code of Ethics in leaflet: Part one (parts 2-4 are available via Gimpy’s SoH category).
Update: The Quackometer has made reference to the Society of Homeopaths press release in a post titled “Is Statutory Self-Regulation the Answer for Homeopathy?” and the SoH press release has been printed here.
