June 26, 2009 at 8:36 pm (Miscellaneous) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I’ve been attempting to communicate with various people and institutions recently and I’ve been having a little trouble. I don’t seem to be getting responses to my emails. Let’s see if we can figure out where I’ve been going wrong. Read the rest of this entry »

Last of The Summer Whine?

June 11, 2009 at 5:14 pm (Alternative Medicine, Chiropractic) (, , , , , , , , , , , , , , )

I feel that I should point out, with reference to my writing that “It feels perhaps a little harsh to make a formal complaint about someone in this way” in a previous post on complaining to the GCC, that I have now seen people commenting on the problems that chiropractors may be facing and whether we sceptics are adding to their distress. GCC Failure to Clarify Code of Practice Ends in Formal Complaint

June 10, 2009 at 8:54 pm (Alternative Medicine, Chiropractic) (, , , , , , , , , , )

I recently emailed the GCC to ask for clarification on a point that relates to my correspondence with Bassett Chiropractic Clinics, of St Albans Chiropractic Clinic, The Hertford Chiropractic Clinic, Watford Chiropractic Clinic, and Kings Langley Chiropractic Clinic (Bassett Chiropractic Clinics are members of the British Chiropractic Association – the organisation suing Simon Singh, who co-authored the excellent Trick or Treatment with Edzard Ernst). I have now made a formal complaint, the text of which follows: Read the rest of this entry »

The McTimoney Letter: Remarkable Chiropractic Website Withdrawal

June 10, 2009 at 5:09 pm (Alternative Medicine, Chiropractic) (, , , , , , , , )

June 4, 2009 at 3:46 pm (Alternative Medicine, Books, Chiropractic) (, , , , , , )

Having corresponded with both the BCA and Bassett Chiropractic Clinics – and received a data dump of some of Tedd Koren’s work in the comments section of a recent post – I am beginning to get a feel for how well chiropractors understand research. I post here some suggested reading for chiropractors in the hope that they may improve their skills and become better at appraising scientific evidence*. Read the rest of this entry »

Chiropractic Refusal to Engage

June 2, 2009 at 5:03 pm (Alternative Medicine, Chiropractic) (, , , , , , , , , )

[BPSDB] You may recall my recent correspondence with Bassett Chiropractic Clinics (the chiropractors whose website claims to be able to help with whiplash, contrary to the guidance given by the ASA – their clinics include St Albans Chiropractic Clinic, The Hertford Chiropractic Clinic, Watford Chiropractic Clinic, and Kings Langley Chiropractic Clinic). My most recent post is here and I have now received an email responding to my latest missive. It took this chiropractor three days to come up with this response: Read the rest of this entry »
